The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a telephone scam currently circulating in our area.
A caller is reportedly identifying himself as “Lieutenant David Parker with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office” and claiming that the person receiving the call:
- Missed court after receiving a federal jury summons
- Signed for court or other “high-security” legal documents
- Must immediately leave work or home and report to the Sheriff’s Office to verify their identity
- May face consequences for failing to comply with the caller’s instructions
⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office will not call you and attempt to intimidate or pressure you into immediate action over an alleged missed federal jury summons.
Scammers often use official-sounding names, titles, legal terminology, and threats of arrest or court action to make their calls seem legitimate. They may also spoof telephone numbers, making the call appear to come from a local or legitimate number.
DO NOT provide personal, banking, credit card, or other identifying information. DO NOT send money, purchase gift cards, transfer cryptocurrency, or make any payment requested by the caller.
If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to represent the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, hang up and contact our office directly using a known, legitimate telephone number.
Please share this warning, especially with elderly family members, friends, and neighbors who may be targeted by these scams.
