MONTICELLO, AR — September 2, 2026 — The NAACP Drew County Branch will host its 2026 Annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Monticello High School, 390 Clyde Ross Drive, Monticello, Arkansas. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., with the banquet beginning at 6:00 p.m.
This year’s theme, “WE THE PEOPLE: If Not Us, Then Who,” calls on citizens to recognize the power and responsibility we share in strengthening our communities, protecting civil rights, promoting opportunity, and ensuring that every voice is heard.
The evening will feature Clarence Thornton, Pastor and CEO of JoyNet Radio in Little Rock, Arkansas, as the keynote speaker. Guests will also enjoy dinner, entertainment, community awards, and special recognitions honoring individuals whose leadership and service are making a difference.
“This banquet is more than an annual gathering—it is an opportunity to celebrate progress while recommitting ourselves to the work that remains,” said Clarissa Pace, President of the NAACP Drew County Branch. “Our theme, ‘WE THE PEOPLE,’ reminds us that change requires participation. If we want stronger communities, greater opportunities, justice, and equality, we must be willing to stand together and do the work. If not us, then who?”
The Freedom Fund Banquet is one of the branch’s signature fundraising events.
Proceeds help support the branch’s ongoing work in civil rights advocacy, voter education and mobilization, youth engagement, economic inclusion, education, community outreach, and legal redress efforts throughout Drew County.
Tickets are $50 per person. The event will feature a formal black-and-white attire theme, with music provided by DJ Smooth on the 1s & 2s. There will be Special youth entertainment from youth of the community.
Businesses, churches, organizations, community leaders, and individuals are also invited to support the event through sponsorships and souvenir journal advertisements.
