UPCOMING ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
GREAT NEWS!
Weather permitting, beginning March 9, 2026 our partners at the Arkansas Department of Transportation will begin repairing patches of road on the bold areas shown in the photo.
Paving will commence after those foundation repairs, which will include Highway 83 South (Main Street) from its intersection with Highway 425 South near UAM, all the way up Main Street, through the Square to the Drew County Library on Jefferson Street. North Gabbert and Highway 83 North will also receive new asphalt as well.
Jordan Drive from its intersection with South Main/ Highway 83 all the way to the roundabout, then from the roundabout to UAM will be repaved.
University Drive from 425 into the University (the road in front of Drew Central) will be paved as part of this project as well.
The pre-construction meeting was held this past week with City, ARDOT and Contractors present to ensure clarity and offer assistance.
The cost of this project is in excess of 3.6 million dollars, paid for by ARDOT. The City of Monticello is working hand in hand with our friends at ARDOT to make sure our citizens have the best roads and highways possible and we thank ARDOT for all of their efforts!
