Dallas County AR Deputy Murry Bodycam 10/19/26 Stops Vehicle With After Market Lights On US HWY 167

On October 17th, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Deputy Steven Murry with the Dallas County Sheriffs Office was traveling northbound on Highway 167 by the Havoc Boat Plant when he observed a silver in color Dodge Charger with purple in color marker lights being displayed on the vehicle as it was traveling southbound on Highway 167. Deputy Murry turned around and was able to catch up to the vehicle just before Gober Road on Highway 167 southbound where he initiated a traffic stop for the improper auxiliary lights.

Upon making contact with the driver identified as Decoris Tidwell, Deputy Murry advised him the reasoning for the stop and asked Tidwell for the required documents for the traffic stop. While speaking with Tidwell, Deputy Murry observed what he knew to be a Marijuana Blunt sitting in the cup holder next to where Tidwell was sitting. Deputy Murry then asked Tidwell if there was anything in the vehicle that he needed to know about to which Tidwell advised no there was not. Deputy Murry went ahead and had Tidwell step out of the vehicle to which Tidwell complied.

While walking to the back of the vehicle, Tidwell advised Deputy Murry that there was a Marijuana blunt in the vehicle along with a small bag of Marijuana in the area underneath the radio. Deputy Murry placed Tidwell in the back seat of his unit so he could perform a probable cause search of the vehicle due to the Marijuana. While conducting the search, Deputy Murry located the Marijuana blunt in the cup holder, a green in color rolling tray in the back seat with Marijuana residue, a small clear plastic bag containing Marijuana underneath the radio, and a green in color smell proof container that contained a medium size clear plastic bag containing Marijuana that was hidden inside of a car seat in the back seat of the vehicle.

Deputy Murry also located a grey in color 9mm Glock 19 tucked in between the drivers seat and the center console.

Deputy Murry advised Tidwell of his Miranda Rights to which he said he understood and also wanted to answer my questions I had pertaining to the Marijuana. Tidwell advised that the blunt and the small bag of Marijuana was his but he has no idea where the green container with the Marijuana came from.

After running Tidwell through ACIC/NCIC, it showed that his license was suspended as well. The firearm was also ran through ACIC/NCIC which showed that it was good. The vehicle was towed by Moro Creek Towing and Tidwell was transported to the Dallas County Sheriffs Office where he was booked in on his charges and issued a bond with a court date.

The firearm was placed into evidence for safe keeping until the court date.

The total amount of weight for the Marijuana in total was approximately 19.2 grams.
