On July 8th, 2026 I Corporal Walton was patrolling on Highway 9. I observed a white pickup displaying an out-of-date expiration sticker on the license plate. I initiated lights to make a traffic stop as the pickup, pulled to side of the highway. A white male with a green shirt jumped out of the passenger side door and fled into the woods. I advised central dispatch to contact other units.
Sergeant Ables Captain Axsom and Corporal Wofford arrived and helped surround the area the suspect fled and launched drone to help locate the suspect. Game and fish commission arrived with a k-9 and located the suspect Lucas Morehead.
The Driver of the pickup Maranda Magby was detained at first during the search for suspect. Magby was cited and release for expired tags.
Mr. Morehead was transported to Dallas County jail. Mr. Morehead has out standing felony warrants in other counties.
