Share With Your Friends

The Division of Music’s Music Theatre Workshop class at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) will perform during the annual Students in Recital on November 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center at UAM. The recital is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Scott Bearden, associate professor of music and director of choral activities at UAM, students will perform ensembles in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein.

In 1944, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II’s first collaboration was the composition of “Oklahoma,” which is considered a remarkable milestone in American music. Their partnership continued to flourish, ultimately becoming arguably the most successful collaboration in Broadway musical history. They composed many famous musicals, including, “Carousel,” “South Pacific,” “The King and I,” “Cinderella” and “The Sound of Music.”
