Johnny Oliver Announces Candidacy For Ashely County Sheriff

Johnny Oliver, a lifelong resident of Ashley County and a respected law enforcement veteran with over three decades of service, officially announces his candidacy for Ashley County Sheriff.

I am a proud 1984 graduate of Hamburg High School. My dedication to public safety began with volunteer service as an auxiliary officer for the Hamburg Police Department in 1992. I launched my full-time career in 1993 with the Wilmot Police Department before joining the Ashley County Sheriff’s Office in November 1994.

During my 22 years with the Sheriff’s Office, I demonstrated exceptional leadership, working my way up to the position of Chief Deputy. I currently serve the community as the Chief of the Hamburg Police Department. This diverse experience provides me with a unique and comprehensive understanding of both municipal and county law enforcement operations, including the crucial management of the county jail.

“My roots are deep in Ashley County, and I have dedicated my career to protecting our families and upholding the law. I possess over 1,600 hours of specialized training and the necessary experience to lead the Sheriff’s Office effectively from day one. When elected, I will be a fair and impartial Sheriff who is committed to transparency and accountability.”

“I know how to run a law enforcement agency, and I know how to operate the jail. My leadership will focus on integrity, competence, and a results-driven approach to make Ashley County safer for everyone,” Oliver concluded.

I am asking for the support of Ashley County voters in the November 3,2026 General Election.
“Oliver for Sheriff: Experience You Can Trust. Leadership You Can Count On.
