MABEN, MS – On 09/22/2026, at approximately 0520 hours Deputies were dispatched to 1922 MS Hwy 15 in Maben, MS for reports of a person that had been shot. Upon arrival, Deputies located a victim suffering from a wound to the body.
The victim received life-saving treatment at the scene by Oktibbeha County Volunteer Fire Department and MedStat ambulance personnel. The
victim was later air lifted for further treatment. At last report the victim was in serious but stable condition.
Investigators have obtained arrest warrants for Jonathan Frost of Webster County in the case. At approximately 1100 hours, Frost was taken into custody by Officers near McGehee, Arkansas following a short pursuit. The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the case.
Sheriff Shank Phelps would like to thank the telecommunicators from Oktibbeha County E911, Desha County(Ark) Central Dispatch, Officers of the McGehee, Police Department(Ark), the Dumas Police Department (Ark), the Dermott Police Department(Ark), the Maben Volunteer Fire Department, the Arkansas State Police, the Louisiana State Police, Oktibbeha County Emergency Management and the Mississippi Highway Patrol for their invaluable assistance in capturing the suspect.
