NAACP Drew County Branch Partners with Arkansas Civic Action Network to Host “Confident Voter Workshop” in Monticello

MONTICELLO, AR — October 6, 2026 — The NAACP Drew County Branch, in partnership with the Arkansas Civic Action Network (ArkCAN), will host a free Confident Voter Workshop on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Sadie Johnson Community Building in Monticello.

The workshop is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

As thousands of new voters—young and old alike—join Arkansas’s voter rolls through statewide registration efforts, ArkCAN and the NAACP Drew County Branch are working to help citizens take the next important step: becoming informed, prepared, and confident when they go to the polls.

“Our branch has been working hard to provide voter education and information to as many citizens as possible,” said Clarissa Pace, President of the NAACP Drew County Branch. “We are delighted to host ArkCAN in our area because it seals the deal on what we need to help encourage participation in the voting process. We want voters to have the information and confidence they need to make their own decisions and exercise their right to vote.”

ArkCAN’s Confident Voter initiative is a statewide, nonpartisan voter-education campaign designed to help newly registered, first-time, younger, and experienced voters better understand the voting process.

“We provide the information on where to go, what ID to bring, and how to find your sample ballot,” said Dr. Gail Choate, co-founder and executive director of ArkCAN. “Those details may sound simple, but uncertainty can keep people home. Confidence comes from knowing what to expect and knowing you’re ready to make your voice heard.”

During the Monticello workshop, participants will learn how to check their voter information, locate their polling place, find and review a sample ballot, understand identification requirements, research candidates, and develop a personal voting plan. Information will also be available about voting early in person and on Election Day.

“Most people do not need another speech about why voting matters. They need clear information about what to do next,” said Blake Tierney, ArkCAN’s Director of Community Power & Engagement. “The Confident Voter hub walks people through the process—from checking their registration and finding a sample ballot to researching candidates and making a plan—so they can show up prepared and make their own decisions.”

The Monticello workshop is part of ArkCAN’s series of free workshops across Arkansas. Online workshops will also be offered on October 19, October 25, and October 28. The Confident Voter online information hub at ArkAction.net/confident provides access to reliable information and official resources for polling locations, voting schedules, sample ballots, and other election information.

The November 3, 2026 General Election is approaching quickly. Arkansas’ voter registration deadline was October 5, and early voting begins October 19.
