Juvenile Riding Bike On S Cedar St Struck By Union Pacific

🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE – RAILROAD CROSSING SAFETY 🚨

At approximately 3:00 p.m. today, the Ouachita County Sheriff’s Department and Bearden Police Department received a call from Union Pacific regarding a train striking a juvenile riding a bicycle on South Cedar Street.

Before officers arrived, the juvenile had been transported by family members to Ouachita County Medical Center for treatment.

Thankfully, we are relieved to report that the child has been released from the hospital after experiencing only minor injuries. We are grateful that the outcome was not more serious.

This incident serves as an important reminder to our community, especially our children, about the dangers surrounding railroad tracks.

🚂 Please remember:

  • Always use designated railroad crossings.
  • Stop, look, and listen before crossing railroad tracks.
  • Never attempt to cross when a train is approaching or warning signals are active.
  • Put away distractions and pay attention to your surroundings.
  • Parents, please take time to remind your children about railroad safety.

Trains cannot stop quickly, and a moment of inattention can have life-changing consequences.

Let’s work together to keep our children and our community safe. Please share this reminder with your family and friends.

Stay alert. Cross safely. Every time.
