Arkansas State Police Tpr. Plyler Conducts Traffic Stop On Gold Honda Accord Suspect Assaults Trooper

On January 6, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., I was stationed on United States Highway 79 near the South Junction (State Highway 273). I observed a gold Honda Accord traveling south on United States Highway 167. I ran the license plate through ACIC, and the registered owner, Ebony Wilson, showed to have a suspended license. I was able to catch the vehicle just south of Thornton on United States Highway 167 and conducted a traffic stop.

I made contact with the occupants, Ebony Wilson (driver), Lorenzo Williams (front seat passenger), and two minor females (rear passengers), and told them the reason for the stop. While speaking with Mr. Williams, I could smell the strong odor of intoxicants emitting from his person. Mr. Williams had valid warrants for his arrest and was asked to exit the vehicle. He was detained without issue and placed in my unit. While confirming the warrants, Mr. Williams stated that he wasn’t an alcoholic and that he only drank because it helps him with his pain. Mr. Williams is on (Redacted). Mr. Williams also stated that he has (Redacted).

I spoke with Ms. Wilson about her license and Mr. Williams’ drinking. She stated he had a beer in the car that wasn’t supposed to be open. Ms. Wilson consented to a search of the vehicle. In the center cup holder, I located a metal cup containing alcohol. On the floorboard was a black plastic bag containing the empty can of beer Ms. Wilson stated wasn’t supposed to have been opened.

Upon returning to my vehicle, Mr. Williams became angry upon learning he was being charged with drinking on the highway and having an open container in a motor vehicle. Ms. Wilson was issued a citation for driving on a suspended license and released to wait for a licensed driver. Mr. Williams was transported to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

During transport, Mr. Williams remained angry and continued cursing at me. Mr. Williams then began making threats, stating he was going to “beat my ass.” At one point, he told me to pull down a dirt road to duke it out, stating “if I win you let me go, if you win you take me to jail.” Mr. Williams’ aggressive behavior continued all the way to the jail.

Upon arriving at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 2:34 p.m., I opened the rear door and told Mr. Williams to exit. As I grabbed his bicep to escort him into the jail, Mr. Williams pulled away while stating “Don’t touch me.” As I neared the jail door, I opened my driver’s side door to lock my unit. Mr. Williams once again pulled away from me. As we reached the closed jail door, Mr. Williams was yelling in my face, resulting in him spitting on me. I pinned Mr. Williams to the wall to allow access to the jail door.

As I opened the door, Mr. Williams lost his balance and fell inside the doorway. I grabbed him by his arm and assisted him back to his feet. Mr. Williams was still yelling, resulting in him spitting in my face again. I grabbed Mr. Williams by his shirt collar and forced him down the jail hallway to the dispatch hall door. As we traversed the narrow hallway, Mr. Williams collided with a table that was against the wall. He was guided into the booking room and placed on the bench. Chief Deputy John Cutrell arrived and took over securing Mr. Williams as I exited the room. During his transition from my patrol unit into the booking room, Mr. Williams sustained scratches to his left chest and neck. These were documented with photos.

Mr. Williams was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, aggravated assault on a police officer (spitting), open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, drinking on the highway, and failure to appear (Calhoun County Warrant). He was held at the Calhoun County Detention Center pending a first appearance.
