The Executive Committee and members of the NAACP Drew County Branch extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the 2026 Drew County MLK Celebration.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. reminded us of a simple but powerful truth: “We cannot walk alone.” That truth was evident throughout this year’s celebration.
We recorded 149 registered participants, with many more engaging through our MLK Kickoff events and the Summit who did not formally register. While participation was strong, we recognize that there is always room to grow—and we welcome that growth.
Dr. King’s dream transformed the world. His persistence reshaped policies. His love brought integration not only to neighborhoods and schools, but to churches, workplaces, and communities at large. For that reason alone, every leader, elected official, minister, agency, and every race bears a responsibility to honor and celebrate his legacy—not by invitation, but by gratitude that progress has been made and that hatred, violence, and injustice no longer go unchallenged.
We are Drew County strong.
We extend heartfelt thanks to our dedicated volunteers and advocates who worked tirelessly to plan, guide, and execute this celebration, as well as to the many community members who stepped in wherever help was needed—including during the FREE giveaway event following the Summit.
We also thank the pastors and congregations who opened their doors and welcomed the NAACP Drew County Branch with open arms. Your support and partnership mean more than words can express, and we are forever grateful.
Finally, thank you to the City of Monticello and the City of Warren. Knowing that we can have your support make a difference in our communities.
Together, we continue the work.
