MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team hosted Ouachita Baptist University in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. After a combined nine home runs between the two teams, the Weevils came out of game one in today’s doubleheader with a 14-8 loss to the Tigers.

Ouachita Baptist kicked off the offense in today’s doubleheader, seeing the lead-off batter hit a solo home run on the second pitch of game one.
The Boll Weevils responded in the second with three runs of their own. Parker Dorrance drove in Cade Cancilla from first on a double to deep to left center field. Aidan Garrett followed up with a two-run bomb to right center field.
Camden Tanner and Cade Cancilla went back-to-back in the third, launching solo home, extending the UAM lead to 5-1.
The Tigers took advantage of walks, alongside their bats getting hot, and put up 10 runs in the fourth inning to take back an 11-5 lead over Monticello.
DeShaun Cordova scored on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning to cut the Tiger lead by one.
Ouachita found a twelfth run in the fifth on an RBI single through the right side.
Tanner ran into his second home run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, adding two runs to UAM’s tally.
The Tigers responded with their fifth bomb of the day on a two-run shot over the wall in right field. The Tiger lead was extended to 14-8 heading into the bottom half of the final scheduled inning of game one. Monticello was unable to find another run, dropping the first game of the doubleheader.
The Loss in game one drops Arkansas-Monticello to a 15-14, 12-6 GAC record for the 2024 season.
