Share With Your Friends

The Alpha Nu Zeta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), in partnership with the Drew County Historical Society, will co-host a book talk and signing with Dr. Buckley T. Foster, senior lecturer at the University of Central Arkansas, on Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at the Drew County Museum. The event is free and open to the public, and books will be available for purchase and signing.

Dr. Foster’s new book, “So Great Was the Slaughter: Market Hunters, Sportsmen, and Wildlife Conservation in Arkansas,”published by the University of Alabama Press, examines the efforts of Arkansas conservation pioneers in the early 20th century to protect wildlife from extinction. During the event, Dr. Foster will share insights from his research, which highlight how these pioneers’ work led to key legislation, game laws and the establishment of wildlife refuges that significantly shaped modern wildlife management in the state.
