From the Publisher’s Desk:
This year marks an incredible milestone for The Lincoln Ledger—150 years ofserving this community.
That number carries weight. It represents generations of stories, conversations, celebrations, hard moments and everyday life documented week by week, long before any of today’s modern conveniences existed.
Putting this anniversary into words has not come easily. Stewardship of a newspaper that has served this town for a century and a half is both an honor and a responsibility. Few jobs carry the kind of influence that comes with shaping public conversation, preserving local history and deciding which stories are told and how they are told. Words matter here. Actions matter here. And the ripple effect reaches farther than many realize.
There was once a belief that meaningful change in a small town was limited, that impact required size, money or power. Owning and operating this newspaper has reshaped that belief entirely. Over time, positive shifts have become visible — more community engagement, more pride, more willingness to support one another and more conversations centered on progress instead of division. Growth has been gradual, imperfect and very real.
Gratitude will fill every page of this milestone year. Seeing the town move in a better direction, even in small ways, has made every late night, tough decision and difficult conversation worth it. Progress does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes it shows up quietly through shared effort, mutual respect and a willingness to care.
As the 150th year unfolds, the focus will turn toward education and participation. A stronger effort will be made to help residents better understand how local government works, how decisions are made and where voices can be heard. Opportunities will be highlighted for involvement, collaboration and service — places where neighbors can step in and help shape the future together.
This is not a big city. That is a strength, not a limitation. In a town this size, small gestures carry real weight. A conversation, a question, a helping hand or a moment of civic involvement can create lasting change. That is the message worth repeating this year and every year after.
Thank you to every reader, advertiser, contributor and neighbor who has helped sustain this paper and this community for 150 years. The story continues, and the next chapter belongs to everyone who calls this place home.

✨ This week’s issue of The Lincoln Ledger marks something truly special — 150 years of community journalism.
It is an incredible honor for me to steward a newspaper that has served this community for a century and a half. This paper has carried the voices, moments, struggles, and celebrations of generations, and being trusted with its next chapter is something I do not take lightly.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this paper, believed in this town, and continues to show up for our community. The story is still being written — and it belongs to all of us.
