On July 18, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Pine Bluff Police Officers were dispatched to 1711 South Missouri Street, in reference to a possible residential burglary. Before Officers arrived on-scene, a witness stated the suspects, later identified as 47-year-old, Michael Cosgrove, and 48-year-old, Robert Cosgrove, left the scene before police arrived, however, was able to provide a description of the vehicle.
Lieutenant Jeremy Brown, who was working the STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement), noticed the vehicle pulling into the parking lot of the Parkview Apartments (300 West 13th Avenue). Lieutenant Brown stated he walked up to the vehicle and noticed copper inside as Robert (driver) and Michael (passenger) quickly exited and began to distance themselves from the vehicle.
Lieutenant Brown stated when Robert ignored his commands to surrender, he deployed his taser to subdue him. Lieutenant Brown stated he ordered Michael to the ground and he immediately complied.
Lieutenant Brown called the paramedics to the scene to provide medical attention to Robert. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries due to his fall after being tased.
Both Michael and Robert were transported to the Detective Office for further investigation.

Copper theft has become a significant issue due to the high resale value of the metal. We urge the community to report any suspicious activity to help prevent further incidents.
