
MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello softball team traveled to Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday afternoon for a pair of games with the #9 ranked Muelriders. Game one of the doubleheader was a conference match-up that resulted in an 8-0 loss for the Blossoms. Game two was a non-conference contest that concluded as a 3-1 loss.
Game 1, 5 Innings (GAC)
Arkansas-Monticello: 0, Southern Arkansas: 8
WP: Brinson Rogers (W, 25-2)
LP: Makenzie Martin (3-10)

Scoring Recap:
The Muleriders were the only team to score in game one, seeing six runs scored in the first and the final two in the fourth. SAU saw two RBI doubles, two RBI singles, and two runs scored on wild pitches in the first to take the early lead. The remaining two runs were plated on an RBI triple and a double.
Southern Arkansas would take game one, 8-0.
Pitching Performance:
– Makenzie Martin started in the circle for UAM, allowing six runs on six hits with a strikeout through 0.2 inning.
– Kyann Woods saw 2.1 innings on the rubber, allowing two runs on four hits.
– Kayla Olthouse tossed the final 1.0 inning for the Blossoms. She struck out two of four batters faced.
Offensive Scoring Performance:
– Aubree Goodnight – 1-for-2 (Recorded the only hit for UAM.)
Game 2, 7 Innings (Non-Conference)
Arkansas-Monticello: 1, Southern Arkansas: 3

Scoring Recap:
The Blossoms were the first team on the board in game two, seeing an RBI double from Aubree Goodnight that plated Carleigh Deeds in the third to put UAM up 1-0.
Unfortunately, an error for UAM resulted in the tying run scoring in the fourth. The Muleriders saw two more runs score in the sixth, the first on a wild pitch and the second on a sacrifice fly, to take the 3-1 victory.
Pitching Performance:
– Kayla Olthouse tossed all 6.0 innings for the Blossoms, allowing two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
Offensive Scoring Performance:
– Aubree Goodnight – 1-for-2 with a double and 1 RBI
– Carleigh Deeds – 1-for-3 with a double and 1 run scored
Due Up for the Blossoms
The Blossoms return home for the final GAC series Alvy Early Field at Ryburn Park on Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18, as they take on the Tigers of East Central University for senior day games. First pitch of the Thursday doubleheader is set for 2:00 p.m.
