Thank You, Our Valued Customers-An Important Update Regarding Our Future…
Around this time last year, despite the County Judge’s assurances to us personally of support & stability for our small business, the County Judge doubled the price per ton mid-day, jumping from $27.50/ton to $55/ton for everyone. This was followed by a discriminatory rate of $50 per ton specifically for commercial firms/operators only. This increase is for our business only-Drew County residents were raised to only $35/ton. This has created a significant disadvantage for our local business, making it increasingly difficult to survive.
The very reason we started this business was when we ourselves required a dumpster and found existing out-of-town services to be prohibitively expensive. Our goal was to strive to offer a more cost effective waste disposal option in our area. However, the county government’s solution & suggestion to these drastic price increases was to pass the increase onto our customers. This did not align with our business plan or values. So last year we absorbed much of the cost, accepting minimal profit, but frankly, we’ve been fighting an uphill battle just to keep our doors open while feeling a profound lack of support from our county government in a community where we are deeply rooted and have built our lives.
Now, with yet another landfill fee increase, we are facing a very real possibility: this could be the breaking point. We are seriously considering whether we can even continue to operate. The repeated actions of the County Judge are pushing us towards a devasting decision – potentially having to shut down our local business entirely. This isn’t just about price increase; its about the potential loss of a local service that many of you use regularly.
We will keep you informed about our final decision regarding our future operations and any potential price adjustments effective July 1st. Quotes given before should be considered preliminary and may change.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we navigate these incredibly challenging circumstances that threaten the existence of our business and our ability to serve our community.
