The University of Arkansas Foundation, Inc. has elected Scott Saffold of Monticello, Arkansas, as chairman of the UA Foundation. His two-year term began on July 1, 2024. The board serves the University of Arkansas System.
Saffold is the executive vice president and senior loan officer for Union Bank & Trust in Monticello, where he has been employed since 2005. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from UAM and is a certified public accountant. In addition, Saffold is a graduate of Leadership Arkansas Class V and the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. He serves on several civic and non-profit boards and is currently a member of the UAM board of visitors and UAM Foundation Fund board of directors. Along with his new position as chairman, Saffold is treasurer of the Arkansas Bankers Association and vice chairman of the UAM board of visitors.
The foundation’s primary purpose “is to advance higher education by securing private financial support for all units and activities of the University of Arkansas. To that end the foundation is authorized to receive, hold, invest, manage and control property which may be acquired by the foundation and to distribute or use such assets for the benefit of the University of Arkansas campuses.” The twenty-four-member board is charged with carrying out the foundation’s mission, which manages over $2.9 billion inassets.
