
On Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee advanced HB1489, a bill that proposes adding nitrogen gas as an approved method of execution.
The House Revenue and Taxation Committee advanced HB1534. This bill would increase the homestead property tax credit from $500 to $600.
The House passed HB1523, establishing the Arkansas Purple Alert System for missing adults who don’t qualify for the Silver Alert System, specifically for those with mental, cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, or brain injuries.
Additionally, the House passed HB1452, which clarifies the rules on medical marijuana use in certain places and prohibits possessing an unsealed container of certain medical marijuana forms in a vehicle.
HB1428, which sets a bed height requirement for mobility-accessible rooms in public lodging, was also approved. Existing facilities must meet the requirement only when upgrading or replacing beds.
HB1558 passed, creating the Property Management Brokers and Property Management Associate License, as the Arkansas Real Estate Commission currently requires a real estate broker license for leasing or renting property.
The House also passed HB1184, amending the Fair Mortgage Lending Act to protect consumer privacy in specific mortgage applications.
