Congratulations to Pine Bluff Police Officers Jesse Horton and Jimmiesha Palmer for winning the 2025 Lifesaving awards, which were presented at the department’s annual awards banquet on Friday.
Their stories:
On May 2, 2024, while on patrol, Horton noticed a man sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with his head down. Horton investigated further and found that the man was unresponsive. Horton then administered Narcan and laid the male down in the driver’s seat. The man soon opened his eyes and became responsive.
“Because of Horton’s quick response to an overdosing subject, the life of this individual was saved,” according to the award nomination letter.
Palmer is also credited with helping to save the life of an overdose victim.
According to her nomination letter, on April 30, 2025, Palmer was dispatched to a scene where a male was found unresponsive while sitting in a chair. She quickly administered Narcan and placed the victim on the floor, where he soon began moving.
The man had overdosed on Fentanyl, the nomination letter states.
“Her quick response and professionalism contributed to this subject being saved,” according to the letter.
