According to Desha County Arkansas Sheriff Mitch Grant on February 3rd 2024 at 7:53 pm deputies Geoff, Wright, Freeman were patrolling HWY 1 near Watson AR where they observed a red ford mustang pulled over on the side of the roadway.
As the deputies approached the vehicle to offer help they smelled a strong odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
As they spoke with the occupants and asked them to step out of the vehicle, the driver, who was later identified as an 18 year old Jermaine Phillips of Little Rock, put the vehicle in gear and sped away.
The deputies gave chase; however Phillips crashed the vehicle in the ditch a mile away. Phillips fled on foot to a wooden area.
Deputies gave chase on foot but was unable to locate Phillips. A search of the vehicle revealed Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, a loaded 9mm pistol, loaded magazines.
Phillips was also found to be wanted form Pulaski County on felony warrants. Warrants for Phillips arrest will be issued from Desha County.
