On Wednesday, September 9, 2025, at 7:48 PM, a resident on Address report redacted reported a possible case of animal abandonedment and deceased animals in a mobile home. The caller stated that the renters of the trailer had not been seen for approximatley two weeks. During this time, dogs began appearing at the caller’s residence in visibilty starving and thristy condition. The caller contacted the owner of the trailer to report the situation.

The dog owners reportedly returned briefly, buried some of the dogs, and locked the remaining dogs inside the trailer. The last known sighting of the renters at the property was around Monday, September 1, 2025.

On September 10, 2025, at approximatley 8:00 AM, I conducted a welfare check at the residence. There was no response at the front door. Visible signs indicated attempted escape by the animals, including scratch martks on the door and a piece of plywood used to block the entrance.

Unable to see inside through the windows, I moved to the rear of the trailer. Through the back door window, I observed what appeared to be a deceased dog lying on a teddy bear. The back door was held shut only by a piece of PVC pipe. I opened the door to confirm the dog was deceased and to check for any other animals.

Upon returning to the front door, I looked through the previously scratched-out hole and observed another dog lying near the couch. I reached in, removed the plywood, and unlocked the door. Upon entry, I confirmed the second dog was also deceased. The residence was extremely unsanitary condition, with dog feces, fleas, and roaches present throughout.

In a back bedroom and bathroom, I found a living rabbit with no food or water available. No other live animals were observed.

Behind the trailer, I found a freshly dug hole with loose soil, matching the caller’s description of a suspected burial site. Near the hole were a samll camp shovel, a larger shove, and a pickaxe, all bearing fresh dirt.

The owner of the mobile home identified the renters as Courtney Faunce & Matthew (last name unknown at the time.) A uility check with Sparkman Water Department listed the account under the name Courtney Puckett. The individuals have been identifed as Courtney Puckett & Matthew Harrison, who are believed to be the owners of the animlas.

I. Incident Summary On Wednesday, September 9, 2025, at approximatley 7:48 PM, a resident at address redacted reported a suspected case of animal abandonment involving multiple dogs at a neighboring mobile home. The caller stated that the individuals renting the trailer had not been seen in approximatley two weeks. During this time, several dogs began appearing at the caller’s residence in visible states of distress – straving, dehydrated, and seemingly without care.

The caller further stated that after contacting the trailer owner, the renters returned briefly, appeared to have buried some of the dogs behind the trailer, and then locked the remaining dogs inside the residence. The last known sighting of the renters was on or around Monday, September 1, 2025.

II. Officer Response & Observations On September 10, 2025, at approximatley 8:00 AM, I arrived at the mobile home to conduct a welfare check on the animals. Upon arrival:

  • There was no response at the front door.
  • The front door displayed significant scratch marks consistent with attemps by animals to escape. A piece of the plywood had been placed over the damaged area, apparently to prevent the animals from exiting.
  • I was unable to see inside the residence through the front windows, and therefore proceeded to the rear of the residence for further inspection.
  • At the rear of the trailer:
  • Through the back door window, I observed what appeared to be a deceased dog lying on a teddy bear, in plain view.
  • The back door was unsecured and held shut only by a piece of PCV pipe.
  • I opened the door to confirm the status of the animla and determine if any live animlas were present. The dog was confirmed to be deceased.
  • I then returned to the front of the residence:

  • Looking through the previously scratched-out hole in the front door, I observed a second dog lying motionless near the living room couch.
  • I reached through the opening, removed the plywood barrier, and unlocked the front door.
  • Upon entry, I confirmed the second dog was also deceased.
  • The interior of the trailer was in a severely unsanitary condition, including but not limited to: 1. Dog feces covering the floor in multiple areas. 2. Heavy flea infestation and presence of roaches throughout the residence. 3. No edible food or accessible water was found anywhere in the home.
  • Further inspection revealed:

In a back bedroom and bathroom, a living domestic rabbit was discovered. The rabbit had no access to food or water and was kept in similar unsanitary conditions.

No other live animals were located at the time of the invesitigation.

    III. Additional Evidence:

Upon examining the exterior of the property: A freshly dug hole containing loose soil was located behind the trailer. This matches the descriptionprovided by the caller, who believed deceased animals had been buried there. Tools found next to the hole included a small camp shovel, a large shovel, and a pickaxe, all bearing fresh dirt.

    IV. Subject Identification

Contact was made with the owner of the mobile home, who identifed the renters as Courtney Faunce and Matthew (last name unknown).

A records check with Sparkman Water Department identified the account holder for the property as Courtney Puckett.

Based on the information obtained, the renters and suspected animal owners have been identified as: Courtney Pucket (also known as Courtney Faunce) Matthew Harrison

    V. Conclusion & Recommendation Based on observations made at the scene, there is evidence of:

  • Animal abandonment
  • Deceased animals found inside the residence
  • Unsanitary living conditions unfit for any animals
  • A surviving rabbit without food, water, or care

Warrants obtained for Courtney Puckett & Matthew 09/11/2025

Here is additional narrative from Dallas County Sheriff Deputy Walton from September 22, 2025

On September 9, 2025, Deputy Wofford contacted Deputy Walton about a meeting in Sparkman regarding a welfare check concering dogs they were left behind in an abandoned mobile home on (first part redacted) Dallas 252.

On September 10, 2025 Upon arrival at the residence, Deputy Wofford & Walton approached the back door of the mobile home. Upon opening the back door, Deputy Wofford located one deceased dog which was covered in fleas and maggots. Beside the deceased dog, laid a stuff teddy bear, which also was covered in fleas.

At that time, we left the residence due to being covered in fleas and we went to the Dollar General and purchased two bottles of flea repellant. After spraying ourselves down we returned to the residnce and made entrance through the front door. The front door contained a covering of plywood to the bottom left, visibile were dogs’ scratching, which led me to believe the dogs were trying to free themselves and the previous tenants were trying to contain the dogs inside. Once inside both Deputies located another deceased dog lying beside the couch. Both dogs looked like they had been deceased for an undislosed amout of time.

While checking the rest of the mobile home, Deputy Walton located a rabbit sitting on the counter of the bathroom sink with no food or water.

Deputy Walton went to Sparkman City Hall to obtain information through a water deposit bill of the last tenants who resided at (first part redacted) Dallas 252.

That information led Deputy Walton to the prior tenant, Courtney Puckett.

On September 22, 2025, Morning Meadow Animal Rescue received a call from a concerned individual regarding some dogs being left inside of the Redwoods apartment complex, without food or water.

Morning Meadow Animal Rescue contacted Deputy Walton about this matter.

Deputy Wofford advised Deputy Walton of the situation and Deputy Walton went to the location.

Deputy Walton arrived at appartment 16 where I met with Courtney Puckett & Matthew Harrison.

They allowed me to verify that their 3 dogs, 2 small black dogs and one medium size dog, all had food & water. I took picture for document purposes.
