On 2/22/2025 Deputy Kerri Womack was patrolling the area of U.S. Highway 65 on the south end of Dumas, when she encountered a northbound vehicle travelling 75- mph in a 60-mph zone. Deputy Womack initiated a traffic stop on the white 2016 GMC Truck.
The driver was identified as 31-year-old Devuntra Sanders of Eudora. As she walked to the driver’s window, Deputy Womack smelled an overwhelming odor of Marijuana.
Sanders admitted to having Marijuana in the center console, but said there was nothing else. As Deputy Wayna Green arrived, Deputy Womack began her search of the vehicle.
She located the Marijuana in the console, as well as 8 prescription pill bottles that contained Promethazine, that weighed 41 oz collectively, 85 Xanax pills, 9 Arizona tea cans that had a screw off top, and each contained 3.5 grams of Marijuana buds, and 55 Oxycodone pills, none of which Sanders had a prescription for.
Deputy Womack arrested Sanders and transported him to the Dumas City Jail, where he was booked for two counts of Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver, three counts of Possession of a Schedule V Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver, Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver, and Speeding. Along with the siezed drugs, the 2016 GMC Truck and $775 cash was seized as well.
The 10th Judicial District Drug Task Force responded to the scene and will be assisting in the drug investigation.
We will say it again for those in the back….if you bring your illegal drugs into our County and try to poison our people, we will try our best to arrest you and send you to the penitentiary, take your money, and your vehicles.
