On Friday March 28th, 2025 Deputy Wofford responded to a report of an accident. Address HWY 8 W, Manning, AR.
Residents reports a car running off the road infront of her house. Vehicle failed to negotiate right hand curve, ran off roadway left onto shoulder striking curve arrow sign.
Then striking trashcan secured to a grader blade buried in the ground crossing culvert into ditch on other side and proceeding back onto roadway and left scene.
Approximately 1 mile down the road found vehicle disabled in front yard of residence at redacted HWY 8 W, Manning. Front end damage consistent with collision to sign, culvert, grader blade.
Driver sitting asleep in drivers seat unrestrained with drivers door open with legs outside the vehicle driver difficult to awake.
Open containers in front seat of vehicle strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from vehicle and driver the driver was identified as Edward Craig, denied having run off the road was unable to identify where he was at.
No apparent injuries, Craig denies being injured and needing an ambulance repeatedly asks to be taken home. Asked Craig if he had been drinking he admitted he had.
He stated “I’m intoxicated but not I’m not drunk.” Craig in drivers seat, keys in ignition in on position, vehicle not running.
SFST’s were not attempted for safety.
Craig was unable to blow in PBT.
Craig was placed under arrest for DWI and taken to the Dallas County Detention Center where a urine sample was given by Craig to be submitted for alcohol testing.
Craig was previously arrested for DWI
