On Sunday, October 5, 2025 Deputy Tyler Grant of the Drew County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of Highway 278 West around the Sports Complex. While on patrol he observed a motorcycle leaving the Monticello Sports Complex at a high rate of speed traveling east bound on the highway towards Monticello. Deputy Grant made a traffic stop on the motorcycle in which was driven by Mark Womble (53) of Warren. Womble who is a level 2 sex offender and out on parole was searched and during this search a crystal like substance that is believed to be methamphetamine was found to be in his possession along with drug paraphernalia. Womble was placed under arrest and charged with the Speeding, No Motorcycle Endorsement, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Scheduled 2 Controlled Substance.
The case has been transferred to the Tenth Judicial District Drug Task Force and Wombles bond was set at $20,000. The case is still under investigation at this time and Womble is currently being housed at the Drew County Detention Facility. I, Sheriff Nichols would like to thank Monticello Police Department Patrol Sergeant Parker Carter for assisting during the stop.
Sincerely,
Sheriff Tim Nichols
