TWO ARRESTED AFTER ASP FIREARM THEFT INVESTIGATION IN NEWTON COUNTY

JASPER, Ark. — Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested former Jasper Police Department Officer Mikel Blocker, 36, and Newton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Detective Aaron Carter, both of Jasper, on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026.

Blocker and Carter were each arrested on charges of Theft of a Firearm and booked into the Newton County Detention Center.

ASP CID agents opened an investigation at the request of the 14th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Multiple firearms were recovered during the investigation.
Both men have been terminated from their respective agencies.

The investigation remains ongoing. No other information is being released at this time.
