
On the date of March 19, 2026 a search warrant was executed on the residence of Michael Dustin Burns by members of the Drew County Sheriff’s Office and the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force. During the search of the residence narcotics and drug paraphernalia was located, Burns who was already wanted on a Domestic Battery 3rd warrant turned himself in to the Drew County Sheriff’s Office on March 20th and was booked in for Domestic Battery 3rd, Possession with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Burns bond was set at $20,000 commercial for these offenses.
However, it was later determined through further investigations that Burns was involved in many more illegal activities such as Breaking or Entering, Theft of Property (Greater than $1,000), Introduction of a Controlled Substance Into the Body of Another Person, Distributing, Possessing, or Viewing of Matter Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct Involving a Child and Pandering or Possessing Visual or Print Medium Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct Involving a Child. On these latest offenses his bond was set at $150,000.
I want to commend each of those from our Office and other institutions that assisted in this investigation. As Sheriff, I want to ensure the public that offenses such as these will not be tolerated. Our youth are our future and we shall ensure that they are safe from any and all that prey upon them.
