On May 15th, 2024, at 9:40 p.m., Deputy Eric Armstrong was patrolling U.S. Highway 65 at Newton Chapel Road, when he initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for traveling 87 mph in a 65 mph zone. The driver was identified as 49-year-old Jonathan Jordan of Jacksonville.
After eventually traveling to Reed and pulling into a residence on Davidson Street, Deputy Armstrong made contact with Jordan. After smelling an odor intoxicants and seeing a beer can, Deputy Armstrong asked Jordan to exit the vehicle.
When doing so, Jordan removed something from his pocket, threw it inside the vehicle and locked the doors. After eventually placing Jordan under arrest for DWI, Deputy Wayna Green noticed a bag of white power substance in the vehicle.
After a search of the vehicle Jordan was transported to the McGehee City Jail, where he was booked for Possession of Methamphetamine, Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, Speeding, Driving on a Suspended Drivers License, Fictitious Tags and Open Container.
