MCGEHEE, Ark. — The Allied Health Department at the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-McGehee (UAM-CTM) has announced that 100% of students in its fall 2023 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class passed the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam on the first attempt. The cohort was taught by Jonathan Whipple, instructor of EMT.
According to Manda Leftwich-Tharp, director of the Emergency Medical Services Program at UAM-CTM, this outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and excellence of both the students and the instructors. “We are extremely proud of the hard work and determination displayed by each student in the fall 2023 EMT class. Achieving a 100% pass rate is a testament to Mr. Whipple’s unwavering commitment to providing top-notch education and training in the field of emergency medical services. I had the privilege of being a student in his first EMT class and working alongside him on the ambulance, and now I have the pleasure of continuing our working relationship in the classroom. I have had a front-row seat to observe his journey to this milestone and could not be prouder of his achievement,” said Leftwich-Tharp.
The perfect pass rate of the national exam on the first attempt is a significant milestone for the students and the communities they serve. As newly certified emergency medical technicians, these graduates are now equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a positive impact during emergencies, saving lives and providing critical care when it matters most.
The UAM-CTM Allied Health Department extends its sincere congratulations to the fall 2023 EMT class graduates. “As they embark on their careers in emergency medical services, we are confident they will uphold the highest standards of professionalism, compassion and expertise,” Leftwich-Tharp said.
